My name is Phodiso Obusitswe, also known as Genius. I was born and raised in the famous World Heritage inland Delta called Okavango Delta.

I come from the Bayei tribe who invented the mokoro (dugout canoe) for transportation and fishing. I went to primary school in my village called Seronga, and I then completed my Cambridge in my home town called Maun. Having grown up in the Delta where there is plenty of wildlife, I was intrigued and began to nurture the knowledge and experience I received from my parents. I then decided that guiding will be my profession - I fell deeply in love with nature which led to me achieving a professional guide licence with Botswana Wildlife Training Institute in 2007.

This opened doors to an incredible journey of guiding, granting me the opportunity to work as a professional guide from 2007-2018. During  my  guiding experience I got to know more about hospitality, animal behaviour, tracking and encounters with potentially dangerous animals such as elephants, hippos, lions, buffalo and leopards.

All of these experiences have led to a lifetime of stories to share over a bush fire. I am thrilled to now be a part of Xigera Safari Lodge and I am excited to witness what nature will unfold.
