Against all odds, Red Carnation Hotels has thrived through the highs and lows of the COVID-19 pandemic. Jonathan Raggett was previously named The Caterer’s Hotelier of the Year in 2009 and features in March 2021's issue, in which he discusses the successful opening of Xigera Safari Lodge in Botswana, the struggles of reducing losses and the importance of staff wellbeing.
‘It's certainly kept me busy,’ Jonathan Raggett told The Caterer, in regards to lockdown restrictions. ‘You look at one location and it is not too bad; you look at a different location and everything has to shutdown.’
Jonathan Raggett discusses the popularity of at-home takeaway experiences such as The Chesterfield Mayfair’s Afternoon Tea and Virtual Gin Tasting Experience, a new area for hoteliers which has kept the kitchen teams active and ‘part of looking after their wellbeing.'
In-house at Red Carnation, we’ve hosted curated experiences with our most treasured partners, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in our London hotels. In 2021, Red Carnation Hotels will continue to work with our partners to create exclusive, unforgettable experiences. As Jonathan explains, ‘we’re not just selling breakfast and dinner, we’re selling reasons to come to London.’
