London may not be the first place on your list for a family getaway however, the capital is perfect for children and adults alike. Due to the size of the city, there really is something for everyone.
Below we've selected a few key events and activities that a sure to bring a smile to your face.
A sister to Canary Wharf’s Winter Lights, Summer Lights is a colourful display of work which utilise natural light to create unique and wonderful displays. The exhibition is a great way to explore the area as you follow the map to discover the artworks, with toilets, food and drink venues signposted along the way.
Designed to be enjoyed during the day, the exhibition is open until sunset.
Artist Chila Burman will be unveiling a new immersive art installation in the Market Building, Covent Garden. The neon garden will showcase and celebrate Burman’s Punjabi heritage and address the topics of sustainability and waste reduction. In her commitment to sustainability, Burman has repurposed work from her previous installations, notably her winter commission for Tate Britain in celebration of Diwali back in Winter 2020, to reduce her own carbon footprint.
The experience is truly available to all through its virtual platform. Digital visitors can discover an exact replica of what will be unveiled in person.
Located in the heart of London’s West End, Disney are staging a pop-up experience showcasing popular shows such as Frozen, The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin. Free to access and for fans of all ages, visitors will embark on an enchanting journey into the stories of their favourite characters. Walk-ins are welcome but we recommend making a reservation in advance.
A 30-minute walk-through experience, fans will travel to early 1900’s London when Mary Poppins was set before experiencing Aladdin’s magic carpet ride! The Lion King’s iconic puppets and costumes will also be on display from the Tony award-winning show. Frozen fans will have the opportunity to see Elsa’s Ice Dress which is soon to be worn in the upcoming theatre show which returns to London 27th August.
Afterward, why not explore Covent Garden’s many shops or relax with a bite to eat in a restaurant?
With a new home in Cavendish Square in Central London, Underbelly Festival is a three-month-long festival with everything from comedy to live cabaret.
There are also a series of children's shows planned throughout the festival to keep the little ones occupied, such as Basil Brush’s Family Fun Show and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Expect great street food and drinks alongside a barrel of laughs.

London is abundant with beautiful parks to explore and two of our favourite Royal Parks, Regent’s Park and Hyde Park, allow you to peddle across their stunning lakes.
Regent’s Park has a specially designated boating lake with prices beginning at £5.50 per adult (off-peak) for half an hour, with family tickets available.
Hyde Park offers both rowing and pedal boats which can be taken out on the famous Serpentine Lake. Prices start from £10 for 30 minutes with family tickets also available for purchase.
