Energy transformation

We’re upgrading infrastructure with smart monitoring, better insulation, efficient lighting, and improved water systems. Technologies like presence detection and optimised ventilation help reduce waste while maintaining comfort.

Technical upgrades

Upgrades include thermal glazing, insulation, smart water use, and more efficient kitchen and bathroom systems. Each change supports lower emissions and better energy performance.

The Glasgow Declaration

As a signatory of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, we’ve joined a global initiative to cut tourism emissions in half by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050. This commitment shapes how we plan, operate, and grow.

What this means

As part of the declaration, we’ve committed to:

  1. Measuring and reporting our emissions
  2. Setting clear targets to reduce carbon output
  3. Supporting biodiversity and ecosystem restoration
  4. Collaborating with partners and communities
  5. Allocating the resources needed to meet these goals

EarthCheck

In 2025, we partnered with EarthCheck to support our sustainability efforts. This gives us access to independent benchmarking, expert guidance, and science-based tools to track our progress. EarthCheck also provides third-party verification of our environmental performance.

Carbon reduction initiatives

Across our properties, we’re already implementing carbon reduction initiatives, including:

  • Retrofitting buildings for energy efficiency
  • Shifting towards renewable energy where possible
  • Reducing food waste and sourcing more responsibly
  • Managing water use more efficiently
  • Engaging staff and guests in sustainability efforts
