This April, a new culinary celebration arrives on the island. The Big Eat Guernsey is a month-long festival showcasing the very best of Guernsey’s food, drink and culinary talent. From freshly caught seafood and seasonal farm produce to artisan makers and creative chefs, it is a celebration of everything that makes the island so distinct. Set to become a biannual highlight, with a return planned for October, the festival firmly places Guernsey on the map for exceptional food experiences. Fizz & Chips by the Sea On Friday 10th April, join us for Fizz & Chips, an experience that captures the spirit of Guernsey’s coastline. Your evening begins at the hotel with a glass of chilled Lanson Champagne and a selection of delicate canapés, before boarding a vintage bus for a scenic journey across the island. Arriving at Cobo Bay, you will settle into deckchairs on the sand to enjoy classic fish and chips, perfectly paired with more Champagne as the sun sets over the sea. The experience concludes with an elegant selection of afternoon tea-style desserts, creating a relaxed and memorable moment by the shore before your return to the hotel. This experience, including Champagne, dining and return transport, is priced at £95 per person. A Murder Mystery at The OGH On Saturday 18th April, step back in time to 1858 with our Murder Mystery Evening, set at the opening of The Old Government House Hotel itself. Guests are welcomed by ‘Mr and Mrs Gardner’ for an evening of celebration, beginning with drinks overlooking the sea. You will then take your seat in the Regency for a beautifully crafted three-course dinner, before the evening takes an unexpected turn. As intrigue unfolds and a crime is committed, you will be drawn into the story, uncovering clues in a setting rich with history and atmosphere. The evening is priced at £85 per person, or £800 for a table of ten for a shared experience. Period dress is warmly welcomed, though never required. Simply bring your curiosity and prepare for a night of fine food, captivating storytelling and timeless mystery. The Grande Fromage Tour Throughout April, we are delighted to take part in The Grande Fromage Tour, a cheese-lover’s trail through the heart of St Peter Port. Collect your Fromage Passport and explore participating venues across the town, each offering specially created cheese-inspired dishes and drinks. A visit to our Crown Club will earn you a stamp, and those who collect three or more stamps will be entered into a prize draw to win a £750 voucher.
