What was your background before you worked at The Lodge at Ashford Castle?

I worked in a factory in Tormakeady.

What was your first experience of The Lodge at Ashford Castle?

Everybody was so friendly and welcoming!

Tell me something about The Lodge that people might not know?

We have a very interesting art collection, which can be seen throughout the hotel, adorned on our walls. We have pieces from Andy Warhol, David Hockney, Lucienne Day, Salvador Dalí, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Egon Schiele and Henry Moore among others.

What makes The Lodge so special?

Most of our bedrooms are located in a courtyard behind a magnificent Georgian house

What does a typical day at The Lodge look like for you?

Very busy, a lot of preparation for new guest arrivals. 

What is your favourite part of your role?

Training new and existing staff, there is a lot to learn!

What do you do to relax when you are not working?

I like to go walking and garden. Spending time with my family is also lovely.

What three words would you use to describe The Lodge?

Nice, homely, friendly.

What is the proudest achievement of your time at The Lodge at Ashford Castle?

When I was promoted to the position of Accommodation Supervisor.
