Last night, the red carpet was rolled out, champagne corks popped, and cheers of excitement filled the air as Red Carnation took home not one, but two coveted awards at the 40th Catey Awards, known colloquially as the "Oscars of the Hospitality Industry." The ceremony, held in the elegant ballroom of London's iconic Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane, showcased the very best in the business, and our team emerged as shining stars. 

The first accolade to grace our collection was the highly esteemed Best Employer Award. This recognition highlighted our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of training & development and diversity & inclusion. Award judge Andi Hirons expressed her admiration, stating, "A truly worthy winner and an outstanding example of a genuine people-focused culture." Paresh Vara added, "This entry demonstrated some fantastic activities. The family feeling and culture really came through, and the team values and experience were embedded throughout." 

The second triumph of the evening was the Sustainable Business Award, which recognised our five-year sustainability strategy, 'How We TreadRight.' This initiative, launched in partnership with the TreadRight foundation, has propelled Red Carnation Hotels to the forefront of sustainable practices in the industry. Led by the tireless efforts of our Global Sustainability Manager and General Manager of The Egerton House Hotel, Michelle Devlin, and CEO Jonathan Raggett, the Sustainability Committee has revolutionised the way we operate, making conscious choices that benefit both our guests and the planet.  

Speaking of the award, Michelle said, "I'm so proud to have the opportunity to work alongside each of the committee members and for us to all be together last night to collect the Sustainable Business Award. The journey we have come on since the launch of the five-year strategy has been amazing, and this award is the recognition of all the sustainable work and passion that our team gives every day in addition to individual roles. It's very special for us to be recognised within the industry, and I look forward to our continued journey of embedding sustainability within the operations and decisions of RCH together." Independent judge Sue Williams praised our submission, stating, "The business is bringing their teams fully on the journey with training and engagement. All in all, this was a most inspiring submission to be admired and highly commended." 

The success at the 40th Catey Awards is a testament to the dedication and hard work of every team member at Red Carnation Hotels. Our commitment to creating an exceptional employee experience and leading the charge towards sustainability has set us apart as a true industry leader. These awards not only recognise our achievements but also inspire us to push the boundaries further, knowing that our efforts make a difference in the lives of our employees, guests, and the world we inhabit.
